Occ Summary

Independently plan and provide professio nalnursing care for patients in accordance with physician orders and est ablishedpolicies and procedures. Provide nursingservices to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.


Work Performed

Plan, prov ide,supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursi ngprocess for patients in accordance with physician orders and establishedpolicies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individu alize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline nee dsand response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of ot her licensed and unlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personne lin the delivery of nursing care and act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.Monitor and initia tecorrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and materialresources. Participate in own professional developmentby maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seekin gappropriate assistance or educational offerings. Act as preceptor andsu pport the development of other staff and formal learners.Participate int he identification of clinical or operational performance improvementoppo rtunities and in performance improvement activities.Perform otherrelated duties incidental to the work described herein.


Knowledge,Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of scope of the registerednurse,lic ensed practical nurse and NCA knowledge of and appropriate application o f the nursing process. Knowledge of professional theory, practiceandproc edure. Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronicallyill patie nts and their families. Ability to independently seek outresources and w ork collaboratively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors,healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leawith the nursin g plan of care. Ability to use sensory and cognitive fundershipand other s. Ability to teach patients and families in accordancectionsto process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up.Abilityto use fine motor skills. Competent in BLS and/or other specialized lifesupportrequi rements designated by work area. Ability to recordactivities, document a ssessments, plan of care,interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status. Ability to use computer and learnnew software programs.A ble to document and communicate pertinent information using computer and /or paper documentation tools. Ability to navigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients. Ability towithstand prolonged standing and walking.Ability to remain focused and organized. Workingknowledgeof pro cedures and techniques involved in administering routineand special trea tments to patients. Working knowledge of infection control procedures an d safety precautions. Working knowledge and completionof appropriate JCA HO and other regulatory requirements. Pre-employment Physical Capacity T esting Required

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.


Experience

2 years of appropriate clinical experience required


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
