Skills and Competencies
- Experience working with several programming languages (most importantly Python)
- Experience with cloud computing, software development and data pipelines
- Knowledge of quantum computing algorithms, particularly gate-based quantum computing and hybrid techniques
- Experience working with quantum computing SDKs (qiskit, cirq, pennylane, or others)
- Familiarity with Tensor Network libraries and techniques (cuTensorNet, TeNPy or others) is a desirable
- Experience on Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence algorithms and tools is desirable
- Experience on Quantitative finance is desirable
- Experience in technical writing in a scientific or technical field
- Must also be experienced in:
- Performing statistical analysis
- Predictive modelling
- Conceptual modelling
- Creating tutorials, prototypes, demonstrations
Education
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field.
- MSc/PhD student in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field preferred but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Develop use cases for which classical algorithms struggle, identify and address computational bottlenecks with quantum/inspired methods. Engage hands-on, review current literature, participate in research, and collaborate with domain experts to craft innovative solutions
- Identify computational bottlenecks and potential business advantage in high impact use cases for Moody's clients in collaboration with Moody's subject matter experts
- Develop new or apply existing quantum/quantum-inspired algorithms to specific applications and benchmark them against our current classical solvers
- Review current quantum/quantum inspired algorithms literature to choose the most promising techniques to address current computational bottlenecks
- Implement new solvers with relevant libraries/SDKs and integrate them in our benchmarking platform, QFStudio
- Contribute to Moody's IP by developing innovative solutions
- Write white papers, thought leadership pieces, and reports with your project results
- Work on resource estimation for fault-tolerant quantum computing algorithms
- Demonstrate some level of autonomy and the ability to learn new skills and domains
- Collaborate with the external academic community and business community
- Partner with other ML groups inside the company to find hybrid solutions and benchmarks
About the program
The Quantum Taskforce mission is to evaluate how quantum computing can disrupt our industry and Moody's products in the market, evaluate the industry maturity, establish partnerships, and position Moody's as a referent in the quantum computing sector for finance. The team creates proofs of concept leveraging our state-of-the-art financial models and our extensive datasets across the company.
Moody's 10-week summer internship program is a premier opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a hands-on learning experience, guided by Moody's commitment to integrity, excellence, and insight. The program takes place each summer from June - August and positions are available for undergraduate and select graduate students. Internships are full-time, offering a comprehensive view of Moody's business and culture, and a chance to build professional and technical skills. Programmatic elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series and volunteering events. Interns complete project work determined by their team that have real impact, fostering a sense of accomplishment and professional growth. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody's professionals, gaining insights into diverse career paths and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the company. Networking events and workshops further enrich the experience, providing a platform for professional development and collaboration. As a Moody's intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into actions, and be integral part of the team.
