A Day in the Life:
This Project Accountant position will have the primary responsibility to ensure complete and comprehensive project accounting for certain capital expenditure initiatives taking place within Bunge's North America region. The successful candidate will be responsible for adherence to Bunge internal controls (including SOX) and procedures, ensure proper accounting (US GAAP) is applied (including but not limited to classification of projects costs, capitalized interest calculations and statement of cash flow adjustments). This position will also have regular meetings and exposure to senior levels of project management and be involved in the monthly accounting close process. This position will require travel of 25% - 35%.
What You'll be Doing:
Appropriate cost recognition and accruals in SAP.
Review all balance sheets related accounts, maintaining appropriate short-term and long-term liabilities.
Manage and maintain internal orders ensuring all costs are accurately recorded to each internal order.
Investigating, reviewing, and fixing any issues in SAP and the accounts payable system; including working with the Project Manager, Accounts Payable, and directly with Vendors as necessary.
Assist Cost Engineer in updating cost forecast, track and report actual cash flow of project spend in the project cost tracker; work with the Cost Controller for Capitalized Interest calculations and facilitate appropriate Statement of Cash Flow reporting.
Review all invoices and required supporting documentation, recommend for approval or rejection to Cost Engineer, and communicate directly with vendors regarding any invoicing questions, and resolution of issues.
Ensure all invoices are tracked from submission to AP processing, and through to ensuring all vendors are paid accounting to payment terms.
Provide guidance on correct accounting classification of projects costs (Capital vs. Expense) as well as ensure proper application of sales & use tax rules on project expenditures.
Establish proper procure to pay processes and accounting controls for the project team fully leveraging BNA's shared service functions for Procurement and Accounts Payable. Maintain invoice tracking system to ensure all invoices are paid neither paid late nor early.
Facilitate administrative support services for the project team leveraging local (facility) personnel and St. Louis functions as needed.
Maintain tracking of active purchase orders and ensure timely close out of completed purchase orders.
Organize project spend information by logical asset type to facilitate SAP fixed asset accounting capitalization processes (asset classification and useful lives)"
Skills/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
1+ year experience with understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) especially as it relates to capital expenditures.
SAP Experience
25%-35% travel required
