Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking an experienced and innovative scientist with a strong background in biochemistry and biophysics to lead the Kinetics Laboratory in the Biotherapeutics Department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The ideal candidate will pose extensive expertise in binding affinity and kinetics analysis, epitope binning and mechanistic studies to support our drug discovery efforts for biologics. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and insight to multiple project teams, manage, and prioritize various projects, and oversee development and management of scientific staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Leads and manages a team of scientists in the designing, development, execution, and analysis of biomolecular interaction experiments using a range of instrumentation, including but not limited to Biacore, Octet, and LSA.
* Drives the implementation of high-throughput kinetic assays in antibody discovery process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reproducibility; Oversees and guides in-depth antibody kinetics binding characterization and associated mechanistic studies to contribute to project progression and drug candidate selection.
* Provides scientific guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment; Leads and responsible for complex data interpretation and presentation to internal stakeholders, supporting decision-making processes.
* Stays up to date with advancements in SPR and other kinetic analysis technologies, proactively identifies and integrates new methods and/or best practices into the team's workflow to enhance antibody generation process.
* Manages timelines and resources effectively, ensuring the team meets project deadlines and milestones; Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams such as reagent provision, antibody discovery and lead engineering to meet project goals.
* Provides administration within area of responsibility for Kinetics Lab, including recruiting, managing, scientific guidance, mentoring and developing scientific staff.
* Complies with all applicable regulation; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies; Aids in the preparation and management of operating and capital equipment budgets, as required.
Requirements
* Ph.D. With seven (7) years of relevant industry experience.
OR
* Master's degree with ten (10) years of experience.
* Four-plus (4+) years proven experience in managing a team of scientists, with a focus on mentoring and developing team members.
Desired Skills, experience and Abilities
* Advanced knowledge of binding affinity and kinetic analysis with extensive expertise in SPR, BLI and other platforms.
* Familiarity with automation platforms and integration of high-throughput screening processes; Demonstrated ability to set up and optimize binding kinetics assays in a high-throughput mode.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting data to diverse audiences.
* Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Experience in drug discovery or early-stage biopharmaceutical research.
* Proven track record of publications or patents in the field of biophysical analysis or kinetic assay development.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
* Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
* Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between $170,000 and $269,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
