PATROL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Job Title: Patrol Officer Full-Time
Salary & Benefits:
- $66,269 - $69,927 in January 2025
- $68,262 - $72,029 in July 2025
- $70,649 - $74,548 in January 2026
- $72,774 - $76,781 in July 2026
Additional benefits: Wisconsin retirement contribution; excellent health (no employee premium and up to a $3,500 health saving account contribution annually by the City), disability and life insurance; holiday and longevity pay (up to 8% additional at 16 years of service); personal and holiday leaves; clothing allowance; educational and fitness incentives; and night shift differential pay. Hours: 2,190 annual hours / 12 hour shifts. This entry level position may be scheduled in a manner that is most advantageous to the City and not necessarily on a 2/2, 3/2, 2/3 work schedule. The two least senior patrol officers, unless two more senior officers select to work a flexible schedule, shall be scheduled one month in advance as with all other officers and such schedule shall include at least one weekend off every month. Applicants must have the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications: Minimum age-18; high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by 60 college credits or an associate or technical degree with additional training in police science, law enforcement, criminal justice administration, public administration, or a related field. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions or other disqualifying criminal history; valid WI driver’s license in any state; ability to possess a firearm; US citizen. WI Law Enforcement Standards Board certification is preferred, but not required. The City does have an ‘Officer in Training’ program which allows the Department to hire and sponsor candidates in the 720 hour law enforcement academy.
