Job Summary

We are seeking a Head, Cash Management Operations, The Americas to join our team at Standard Chartered Bank in Newark. The successful candidate will be leading the operational support to the Bank's US Dollar FI Clearing business, working with the COO Cash as well as other team members to drive business improvements and efficiencies and be seen as an expert in this area by internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will oversee Cash Operations supporting clients based in the Americas region and providing US Dollar Clearing capabilities to clients across the network. This includes operational activities performed by all teams in the Americas and teams based in hub locations supporting the Americas from offshore.

A deep understanding of cash payments, including US Dollar Clearing, will be essential for the role, as well as experience in managing cross-border international payment flows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Cash Client Journey supporting clients based in the Americas region and providing US Dollar Clearing capabilities to clients across the network. This includes Factory and Studio based activity performed by all teams in the Americas and teams based in hub locations supporting the Americas.
  • Drive constant client input into the client journey to elevate the client experience and lead the service teams to deliver high-quality client interactions with solutions that meet client expectations.
  • Work with the Global and Regional Cash and Digital, Data and platform stakeholders/partners to refine and implement the business strategy agenda, incorporating macro-economic, geo-political and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure commercialization of all cash management products, focusing on market trends and regulations that will impact business and volume growth.
  • Collaborate with the integrated middle office and implementation team (country and hub) to facilitate client onboarding and ensure initial transaction handling meets the client's expectations (e.g. seamless and error free).
  • Work with Regional COO, Country COO and Cluster COO's to agree regional and local priorities, resolve issues around the operating model, systems and processes, and develop and implement a business aligned strategy that meets client requirements, including a human capital agenda for development of key skills across the region (e.g. new ways of working and product expertise).
  • Own the end to end accountability for transaction processing and operational delivery of cash products to enable front to back, seamless, client focus delivery - working with client segment leads and transaction banking business head. Ensure systems, capabilities, infrastructure and processes are fit for purpose and are implemented as per required standard and remediated where not.
  • Own the financial performance targets of front to back operations and prioritize investments into ensuring the client journey achieves delivery of the product backlog in line with the business strategy.
  • Challenge status quo and drive courageous conversations to ensure we are doing business with the right clients, with a sustainable cost/income ratio.
  • Own the end to end accountability for USD Clearing Sanctions Screening process ensuring compliance with all applicable external regulatory requirements and internal bank policies.
  • US Onshore Supervisor responsibilities for processing activities outsourced to HUBs in Chennai and Kuala Lumpur.

Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Responsible for supervising US Cash Operations on strategy, operating model, risk and control standards and compliance with regulations, and ensure business processes are aligned with organization's strategic goals.

  • Collaborate with technology on futuristic digital opportunities, pre-empt disruptive issues and commercialize innovative use of technologies.

  • Continuously improve productivity and efficiency by driving an automation and standardization agenda for the business that enables client outcomes, sustainable growth and scalability.

  • Develop and execute the right shoring strategy and continually review opportunities to deliver efficiency and improvements in the US.

  • Ensure continual experimentation with the client journey to deliver outcomes that align to the strategy and product backlog.

  • Provide regular, timely updates to global and regional management on notable operational developments and issues in the region and drive the resolution of thematic client issues and process issues.

  • Act as an escalation point for country level operational or client issues that requires global solutions - identify remedial solutions and oversee timely, efficient implementation.

  • Participate in the reviews for multi-location deals and ensure that the best solution is provided and replicated across clients, products and markets.

  • Role model a strong, collaborative business relationship between cash delivery teams in operations and service with Regional and Country Business Heads and GBS. Maintain strong lines of communications with Hubs through an effective communication process.

  • Manage processes, procedures and policy where there is a more effective way to do things. Escalate issues, blockages, difficulties and trends to the country/regional business head, product managers, COO's and TB country heads as required, collaborating effectively to resolve issues.

  • Regular review of business performance metrics to ensure transparency to stakeholders and in line with the long-term business plan.

Qualifications

  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualification; University educated (desirable).

  • Cross border international experience is required.

  • US dollars clearing business experience.

  • Experience in payments generally is highly desired.

  • Extensive operations experience in cash payments, ideally in US dollars clearing.

  • Hands on in Operations.

  • Financial Crime Compliance and Sanctions is desired.

  • Strong on good on senior stakeholder management

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills regarding contact with Senior executive level

  • Previous experience in working together with executive level members in the cash business.

Recruitment Assessments

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 171,132 USD to 256,699 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
