As The Global Marine Operations Management Leader is responsible for supporting the Integrated Solutions ("IS") Supply Chain organization with Vessel planning, strategy & networking, procurement, contracting and overall management of all Vessel, marine logistics and shore base related activities for the IS group.
The Global Marine Operations Management Leader shall report directly to the Global Chain Supply Chain and Partnerships Director - Integrated Solutions. IS Supply Chain and the IS Regional Directors will work closely to ensure priorities are effectively assigned to ensure they are achievable, maximize value and provide effective solutions to Global IS projects with Vessel requirements.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
VESSEL CONTRACTOR NETWORKING:
- Establish Global Non-Disclosure agreements / Global Framework Agreements with Vessel companies as mandated by business priorities.
- Drive negotiation with vessel companies and achieve an optimal Baker Hughes position when required for IS opportunities.
- Identify alternative business models to produce a robust and competitive position to support IS opportunities.
- Explore cross-sales opportunities between Vessel Contractors and Baker Hughes for both parties' products / services offering.
- Establish relationship with vessel companies and maintain regular networking / engagement meetings with Vessel Contractors at Regional / HQ levels to foster business partnership and to gather intel on Vessel pipeline and business opportunity that Baker Hughes can leverage its offering.
VESSEL INSPECTIONS:
- Responsible for Vessel site visits to ensure all client specifications and requirements are met in accordance with Industry practice. Any gaps to be documented as part of mitigation plan.
- Plan Vessel visits along with Regional Management Leaders / Project Managers / Vessel Contractor Country Directors / Vessel Contractor QHSE Manager and conduct safety stand-downs.
- Focus on Baker Hughes non-negotiables with regards to Quality, HSE, reporting and compliance.
- Incident Investigations - Support BH QHSE and Operations teams on-ground with investigation of any Vessel related incidents including up-to final close-out and sharing of lessons learned.
VESSEL & SHORE BASES PROCUREMENT / TENDERING / CONTRACTING:
- Maintain a pipeline of available Vessels globally (including that of Baker Hughes competitors) capturing contractual tenure and market trends and rates to continually gauge our Vessel position for upcoming work.
- Develop and execute global sourcing strategies to support business objectives, including cost savings, quality, and delivery
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and negotiate contracts
- Develop and implement supplier assessment and qualification processes to ensure compliance with company standards
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and manage sourcing plans and forecasts
- Analyze and report on supplier performance, including cost, quality, and delivery metrics
- Identify and implement cost savings initiatives to achieve business objectives
- Stay current with market trends and industry developments, including global market conditions and trade agreements
- Early engagement with Vessel Contractors on the must-win opportunities to drive a competitive advantage of partial or full exclusivity / preferred pricing along with any other strategic approach which may be identified to ensure Baker Hughes become best positioned for critical opportunities. .
- Explore and leverage any Regional Vessel agents which may present an effective solution on a case by case basis.
- Lead any Vessel alternative engagement models with the Contractor (Vessel assuming lead position, Joint ventures, Consortium models, etc.).
- In coordination with IS Supply Chain Sourcing / Supply Chain Leaders, tender all Vessel opportunities to drive healthy competition and derive the best value proposition. Responsibility for all technical aspects of tender to meet project/client requirements including optimized commercial structure.
- Present any gaps/risks associated with Vessel technically, commercially, and contractually and include mitigation plan to address such risks.
- Tender evaluation and Vessel selection based on overall value for project model (V1 evaluation model).
- Support with client tender documentation for the selected Vessel(s) in coordination with IS ICPM.
- Lead contract negotiations / finalization / execution following main contract award.
VESSEL STARTUPS - IS PROJECTS:
- Lead contract handover workshop with IS Project teams following Vessel contract execution.
- Support Project Manager in preparing Roles & Responsibilities handbook for Vessel site contract management.
- Lead / Support the Project kick-off workshop with the Vessel Contractor.
- Support IS Project Managers / IS QHSE Managers with Hazop / Hazid workshops with the Vessel Contractor.
- Coordinate the third party (OES) Vessel inspection and acceptance including close-outs.
- Coordinate in-house Vessel crew competency assurance process.
- On-Ground support during Vessel spud when requested by the country leadership.
CARBON-OUT INITIATIVES
- Lead any carbon-out initiatives of Baker Hughes with Vessel Contractors including but not limited to new technologies on alternative energy, crew optimization, logistics optimization, etc.
- Coordinate with BH Corporate Carbon-Out team and the regional teams to ensure Baker Hughes receive the best advantage on free trials or beta testing of new product offerings from third parties.
OTHERS:
- Vessel Optimization / Technology: Propose technology / modification that may drive overall operational & commercial value to each project.
- Crew Optimization: Continually drive crew optimization at all Vessels sites (BH Skills Upgradation Initiative) to ensure reduction of BH PL crews to drive overall project cost down as well as relative carbon footprint.
- New Technology: Provide a platform to showcase new technology from Vessel Contractors and other third party that bring tangible value to the project and/or improves overall project safety cum efficiency. Serve as the escalation point for any dispute resolution between Baker Hughes and Vessel Contractors.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Bachelors / Engineering degree from an accredited university or relevant industry experience. Master's degree in management (MBA or equivalent) will be preferable.
- Minimum of 20+ years of experience in Oil & Gas industry with the last 10 years in senior management roles.
- 10 years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
- At least 10 years of experience working with reputed Vessel, logistics Contractors.
- Leadership, strong interpersonal, influencing and planning skills will be considered for this position.
- Safety focused individual who can drive a high safety culture amongst Vessel Contractors
- Excellent English oral and written communications skills
