We are looking for a Director of Microbiology to join our team at either of our corporate offices in Omaha, Nebraska or Chicago, Illinois.
As the Director of Microbiology, reporting to the VP Food Safety Quality & Regulatory Affairs, you will lead the enterprise microbiology, microbiology laboratory, and microbiology research activities.
What you'll do in this role:
Lead a high-performing team of microbiologists/managers and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Oversee microbiological standards and lab operations, ensuring food safety, quality, and timely testing.
Represent Conagra in external technical bodies, influencing microbiological standards and methodology development.
Provide microbiological expertise for projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams on innovation and continuous improvement.
Support manufacturing with microbiological guidance, including process validation, corrective actions, and product disposition.
Manage third-party relationships and lab compliance, ensuring adherence to ISO17025 standards and regulatory requirements.
Champion a positive food safety culture, takes ownership, and empowers others to take immediate action on matters concerning food safety.
What you'll need to be successful:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in food microbiology in a leadership role.
Lab Management and Enterprise Microbiology (for food manufacturing) experience.
Knowledge of food microbiology, food safety and quality, verification, and regulatory requirements.
Travel may be up to 50% to corporate or manufacturing locations.
We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.
Physical Requirements:
Exposure to manufacturing environments for up to 8 hours per workday to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, dirt, fumes, smoke, smells and exposure to all food allergens.

Compensation:
Pay Range:$130,000-$193,000The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee's actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees' equity.Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
