40Summary:
Provides managerial expertise and support in the planning, organization, supervision, and coordination of coding resources within physician practices. Responsible for initiating, facilitating, monitoring, and promoting the attainment of timely and high-quality coding, documentation, data collection, and reporting Manages a hybrid coding staff, responsible for assessment and organization of workflow; maintenance of up-to-date policies and procedures; attends and manages committee activities as assigned. Promotes quality and teamwork across the department. Responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality and integrity of protected health information regardless of the storage medium. Communicates and participates in quality improvement initiatives within the department and across CCHCS as appropriate. This position can be a virtual/telecommute position but will report on-site as needed/requested for meetings/projects.
Education & Experience
Required
- High School diploma
- Minimum of five years experience in coding for professional services
- Recent and extensive ICD-10-CM and CPT experience is required.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Must have sharp analytical and critical thinking skills, must be highly detail-oriented, have strong organizational, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality, create positive relationships, and be flexible, goal-oriented, and energetic.
- Ability to work with, and provide excellent customer service routinely in all types of interactions with all individuals.
Preferred:
- Associate's Degree
- 2+ years experience of leading, supervising or managerial tasks
- Pediatric coding & billing experience
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
Required: One of the following AAPC or AHIMA credentials:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
