Clinical Nurse IV Leader - Duke Urgent Care Croasdiale
Job Summary:
Provide advanced and specialized nursing care in alignment with the guidelines of the Nursing Clinical Ladder Program and the North Carolina Board of Nursing. This role involves delivering high-quality patient care while offering leadership at the local level in key areas such as administration, education, informatics, and quality improvement.
What you will do:
- Assess and address the care needs of patient populations across the continuum of care, ensuring comprehensive care delivery.
- Lead and collaborate on developing standards of care, patient and family education, and staff training to meet the needs of diverse populations.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to provide leadership in delivering exceptional patient care.
- Take an active leadership role in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects, and other health-related initiatives.
- Evaluate, guide, and oversee the selection, use, and maintenance of material resources, collaborating with relevant departments on vendor selection and feedback.
- Mentor and coach others across the continuum of care, fostering professional growth through role modeling, orientation design, and precepting.
- Lead initiatives at departmental, organizational, community, or national levels to improve patient care quality and promote staff development.
- Conduct performance reviews and recommend personnel actions, including hiring, appraisals, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Monitor clinical practices to ensure adherence to regulatory and practice standards, collaborating with leadership to coach and mentor nursing colleagues.
- Plan and deliver educational sessions, assess staff educational needs, and partner with educators to address learning gaps.
- Serve as a superuser for clinical information systems, facilitating technology adoption, troubleshooting, and providing training and support to staff.
- Collaborate with experts to analyze patient care data, identify trends, and implement quality and patient safety improvements.
- Engage in quality assurance, research, and innovation initiatives, contributing to the development of new methodologies and technologies for improved care delivery.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the organization's mission and goals.
What you will need:
Education
- Work requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
Experience
- Applicants must meet all requirements set forth by the DUHS Career Ladder Program for level IV.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of the scope and roles of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and unlicensed staff.
- Proficient application of the nursing process and understanding of professional nursing theory, practices, and procedures.
- Skilled in assessing the nursing needs of both acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
- Ability to work independently, seek out resources, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to patients, families, physicians, leadership, and others.
- Proficient in teaching patients and families according to the nursing plan of care.
- Capability to process and prioritize information using sensory and cognitive functions for treatment and follow-up care.
- Fine motor skills necessary for nursing tasks and interventions.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and other specialized life support requirements as designated by the work area.
- Proficient in documenting patient care activities, assessments, care plans, interventions, and evaluations using both digital and paper tools.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software programs to enhance clinical care.
- Knowledgeable in infection control procedures, safety precautions, and Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to navigate the healthcare entity to provide optimal clinical care for patients.
- Physically capable of withstanding prolonged standing and walking.
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to remain focused in dynamic environments.
- Working knowledge of procedures for administering routine and specialized patient treatments.
- Pre-employment Physical Capacity Testing is required for this role.
