Summary
The Card Fraud Strategy Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to debit card activity to prevent and detect fraud as part of the Card Fraud team. This individual will work independently and collaboratively to identify common points of compromise, fraud trends requiring immediate action, and customer impact necessitating additional support. The role requires strong analytical skills to filter and validate transaction data from multiple sources, as well as self-motivation, prioritization, and teamwork. The analyst will take ownership of the process and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze VISA transactions to mitigate fraud trends
- Independently research and address fraud trends
- Determine the need to cancel or maintain cards based on analysis
- Collaborate with management and other teams
- Identify and resolve problems, escalating issues as needed, and contribute to workflow or process change and redesign
- Communicate independently, in a professional and collaborative manner, with other departments and vendors to resolve issues
- Manage additional projects and responsibilities as assigned
- Assist in training departmental personnel as needed
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of departmental work
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Data Analytics, Business/Finance, or related field OR,
- A 4-year degree in a non-related discipline with at least 2 years of banking experience with exposure to Credit and Debit card transactions OR,
- High School diploma with 5-7 years’ banking experience working with Credit or Debit Cards
- Strong Excel skills, with a high comfort level creating pivot tables, formulas (ex. X-Lookup, If, Trim, Concat) and data visualization - Power Query, Power Pivot, and ETL- Extract, Transform, Load a plus.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Analytical aptitude, with the ability to analyze patterns, detect anomalies, and spot irregularities within data
- Strong critical thinking skills, and be able to make decisions that impact customers and business units
- Knowledge of credit and debit card products and processes
- Knowledge of fraud mitigation techniques related to credit/debit card products/processes
- Self-starter and works independently with minimal direct supervision
- This role requires working in a high-stress environment and flexibility in working hours as needed.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data analytics tools
- Familiarity with Jira and/or Confluence
- Knowledge of FISERV products such as Defense Edge and Fraud Detection Work Center, or other similar transaction processor or fraud systems
