What You'll Do
The BI Data Architect III will develop an understanding and subject matter expertise of several different global/local data systems (Financial, Operational, Sales, Real Estate, HR, Marketing, etc.). Lead efforts in organizing company data, including the development of business/semantic models, enterprise ontologies and metric definitions for use by the global analyst community. Develop processes and best practices for documenting and maintaining master data for the company, including hierarchies. Consult on projects and system implementations, ensuring that data and analytics can source and use system data efficiently. Maintain high understanding of business needs for reporting, analytics, and data science
This individual will develop processes and best practices to ensure the protection and privacy of company and personal data, including consultation on data security across reporting systems, audits on data usage, and partnership with EMEA on GDPR/PII data protection recommendations. Lead efforts to audit data controls for regulatory compliance and data access. Educate the global analyst community on data governance best practices and lead efforts to audit compliance; develop processes to efficiently deal with non-compliance. Partner with IT to ensure that data systems are usable by analyst community. Lead efforts to build automated validations on key data sets and metrics, ensuring that consumers have high confidence in the data.
The BI Data Architect will consult with global analyst community and provide guidance on recommendations for data sourcing, transforming, and calculating company data. Support new report development projects and provide guidance and subject matter expertise on data and metrics that align with project objectives. Proactively prospect new initiatives that could impact the data pipeline and lead efforts to understand and remediate the impacts. Lead efforts to analyze data impacts associated with changes in business processes.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years' experience working with large data sets from complex data platforms, including Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server
- 5+ years' experience managing large data governance programs, spanning multiple systems and diverse data types
- 3-5+ years' experience using business intelligence development tools to solve complex business problems (e.g. Domo, Cognos, OBIEE, MicroStrategy)
- 3-5+ years' experience managing data pipelines through ETL tools (e.g. Domo, Informatica, Data Stage, etc.), sourcing data, transforming, and building business-friendly outputs for other analysts to use
- 3-5+ years' experience using semantic modelling tools (e.g. Cognos Framework Manager, Business Objects Universe Designer, etc.) to define data relationships, metric definitions, and recommended data labelling and aggregation rules
- Experience with developing Metadata catalogs and Enterprise ontologies
- Advanced understanding of relational database concepts
- High proficiency in reading and interpreting SQL
- High proficiency in advanced features of analytic tools (Excel, Domo, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.)
- Highly skilled in interpreting business requirements & creating technical solutions; designing, diagraming, and communicating back to both business and technical analysts
- Highly skilled in Data Extract, Transform, & Load (ETL)
- Proficiency working with traditional and cloud data platforms
- Certifications in Analytics, Data Science, or other applicable area strongly desired
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in communicating technical ideas to business analysts and leaders
- Ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal
- Advanced problem-solving and solutioning, particularly where data schemas don't align or where business requirement require creative solutioning
- Experience and understanding of common financial concepts, metrics, and calculations
- Ability to make local decisions independently
The typical annual salary range for this position is shown below and is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
